dabeiOS is a conceptual operating system for old smartphones. An open-source alternative that encourages mindful consumption without requiring a new device. Born from the question: why is social media so addictive, who benefits from it and what can we do about it?
The course examined how digital platforms shape consumer behavior and dependency. In the first part I worked as creative director in a group project mapping how Temu’s AI-driven business model operates. In the second part I worked independently. Smartphone usage among young people, psychological effects, environmental impact and industry structures visualized as a system map. The result was a detailed infographic and dabeiOS as a raw concept: making dumbphones desirable, reusing existing devices, consuming less.
